Brigham City awarded $200,000 CDBG grant for senior center concrete, ADA upgrades

Brigham City on May 1 announced it received a $200,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) award to replace exterior concrete and improve Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access at the Brigham City Community Center senior center, 24 North 300 West.
Paul Larson presented the grant award during the council's second public hearing on the application. He told the council the project scope includes removal and replacement of existing concrete in critical ADA areas, replacement of cracked slabs that present tripping hazards, installation of a new ADA access ramp on the west side of the center, and resurfacing of an existing ramp to eliminate slipping hazards. Larson said bids and the final availability of funds will determine whether additional adjacent flatwork will be replaced.
Larson said facility manager Kelly Andrew will be the project manager. Copies of the capital investment plan for the project are available from city staff, Larson said.
The council opened the public hearing on the CDBG grant as required by the program and invited public comment; no members of the public addressed the council on the matter, and the council closed the hearing. Motions to open and to close the hearing were made and seconded by councilmembers during the meeting.
Ending: With the public hearing closed and no objections raised, the city will proceed with procurement and project planning under the awarded grant; staff will present bids and a plan for final scope once procurement concludes.
