Veterans Service Officer Gary Elliott told the Sawyer County Administrative Committee that the office remains busy and has submitted 41 disability compensation and pension claims to date.
Elliott reported the office received roughly 456 phone calls and conducted 216 office visits in March. He said the office also received about $93,000 in retroactive payments on claims decided in veterans’ favor.
Elliott described ongoing counseling co‑management with the La Crosse Vet Center, noting four individual counseling sessions and two group counseling sessions during the month. He also reported outreach activities including a regular “coffee and conversation” program and social‑media engagement, and said staff will attend mandatory annual training the first week of next month; the office will close for training for several days.
Committee members thanked Elliott for the work and for outreach efforts; no committee action was taken on the report.
