Urban Transportation Commission recommends approval of North Lamar and South Congress station-area vision plans

Chair Summers of the Urban Transportation Commission briefed the Mobility Committee on May 15 about the commission's May 6 meeting and its substantive recommendation on equitable transit-oriented development.
Chair Summers said the UTC reviewed vision plans and future land-use map updates for the North Lamar Transit Center and the South Congress Transit Center station areas and recommended approval. "We recommend it in light of UTC really wanting maximizing ridership and meeting the goals of the Austin strategic mobility plan," Summers said. The UTC also favored the amendments proposed by the Planning Commission.
The UTC additionally received updates on the eTOD Phase 2 work, including planning around the Crestview Station area, and passed two right-of-way vacation recommendations. Chair Summers said the commission deferred action on director's rules for residential permit parking and shared micromobility and expects to revisit residential permit parking in June.
The UTC's recommendation to approve the North Lamar and South Congress station-area plans is advisory; the Mobility Committee received the briefing and no committee vote on the UTC recommendation was recorded during the meeting.
