Clark County presents Neighborhood Traffic Management Program to address speeding on local streets

Clark County Public Works on Wednesday proposed a Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP) designed to help neighborhoods address speeding and cut‑through traffic on local residential streets.

Public Works transportation staff, led by Steve Gallup, presented the program to the Neighborhood Associations Council (NAC), describing a four‑step framework for resident submissions, evaluation, engagement and implementation and saying the county hopes to begin implementation in 2026. “My name is Steve Gallup. I work for the transportation division in public works,” Gallup said at the start of the presentation.

The proposal would open an annual window for residents and neighborhood associations to submit areas of concern (suggested dates: Jan. 15–March 1), allow staff to collect existing traffic data and field equipment counts, and then score and prioritize projects for council approval in early summer. Staff said high‑scoring projects would be designed, scheduled and added to the county’s six‑year Transportation Improvement Program.
