Haysville to replace Acellus with Edgenuity for online credit recovery and virtual courses

Haysville USD plans to switch its online curriculum platform from Acellus to Edgenuity for credit recovery and alternative programs after Acellus notified the district of a costly upgrade.

Dr. Reed told the board the district currently uses Acellus for several programs but the vendor's new Acellus Gold upgrade would cost "over $86,000" for Haysville High School alone. She said the district signed a contract with Edgenuity for $48,050 and that the current Acellus subscription cost was about "$41,425" (an approximate figure given during the meeting). "Edgenuity can provide the exact same system that we're using with the Acellus," Dr. Reed said, and added that the platform also offers additional CTE programs.

Reed said the district could not secure a multiyear price lock and that the Edgenuity agreement is currently an annual contract. She said staff will schedule two training sessions to accommodate teachers and administrators and that counselors will evaluate students who transfer mid-course to place them appropriately. The district has sent letters and scheduled social-media reminders for students and families currently working in Acellus to finish courses before the subscription ends on June 30.
