Stewartville students report new student-council officers and preliminary homecoming plan

Bailey Shoemaker and other student representatives reported election results for the Stewartville High School student council and described planning for next year's homecoming.

Shoemaker said the executive board for the 2025-26 year was selected on April 9. She listed Matthew Waters as president, Samantha (last name variously transcribed) as vice president, Carly Reiner as treasurer, Christopher Waters as secretary and Shoemaker as parliamentarian. Student council school-board representatives named included Landon Hay and others.

Several incoming student representatives introduced themselves and said they want to build community connections and gain leadership experience. Lexi Bundrock (incoming senior) told the board she wanted the position to "build connections within the community and to make a positive impact." Landon Ney (incoming senior) said he wanted the role because "I love speaking" and was looking forward to helping assemble the pet fest and homecoming week.

Student council leaders described committee assignments for homecoming and said a tentative date under consideration is Sept. 26. Committee leads announced included Samantha (homecoming head), Bailey Shoemaker (dance committee head, with co-heads Elise Gable and Lila McConnell), Matthew Waters and Christopher Waters (parade co-heads), and others handling coordination and activities.

Board members complimented the students' organization and communication. One trustee said the student council's organization "makes everything go much smoother when you can be organized." The report was informational; no board action was taken.
