The board voted to approve the minutes from the April 28 meeting; Chair Anderson voted yes, Vice Chair Whelan abstained "due to absence," and Board members Anderson, Noon, the unnamed board member and Board member Saffren voted yes. The chair announced, "Motion passes." The same voting pattern occurred for approval of the May 5 consent meeting minutes: Vice Chair Whelan again abstained and the remaining voting members voted to approve.
On a separate motion to ratify action taken on the consent calendar and to continue a consent item to the next available full board meeting, staff explained a consent item (a housing authority project to convert a hotel to affordable housing for homeless populations) required scheduling on a full-board agenda to comply with the Brown Act. The board moved to ratify the continuation and set the next available full-board date as June 9. The ratification motion passed with Chair Anderson, Vice Chair Whelan and all board members recorded as voting yes.
