Depew trustees approve auction results, appointments and agreements; authorize bid advertisement for Phase 8 CAP

Items sold listed by the village included assorted furnace filters and toner, a Champion shop air compressor, a Cyclone sand bead blaster cabinet, a Paladin hydraulic 4-in-1 clam bucket, a 2002 Ford E-250 Econoline van, a Sterling L9500 dump truck with plow and wing, a 2002 Ford F350 dump truck, and a 2018 Ford F-150 police interceptor, among other lots. The board approved the auction results by roll call vote; the vote was recorded unanimously in favor.
Appointments and personnel: Pursuant to Village Law §4-400, Mayor Kevin J. Peterson appointed Patrick (Pat) Cana to the position of police lieutenant effective May 12, 2025. The appointment was approved by roll call vote. The board also approved the appointment of a seasonal recreation employee, Summer Cole, by roll call vote.
Agreements: The board authorized the mayor to sign a lease agreement with the Erie County Board of Elections for use of the village building for the primary election this year and authorized execution of a multi-jurisdictional SWAT team agreement with the Town of Cheektowaga and the village police department. Both motions passed by unanimous roll call votes.
Infrastructure bidding: The board authorized the village administrator to advertise for bids for the Village of Depew Phase 8 CAP plans with a bid opening scheduled for Thursday, June 12, 2024 at 10 a.m. in the Council Chambers. The motion passed by roll call vote.
Other routine business: The board accepted department head reports for April 2025, approved claims and accounts as presented by the finance committee, and adjourned the meeting. The claims-and-accounts motion listed $173,539.84 from the general fund; the transcript later reports a total of $173,359.84 (a discrepancy noted in the record).
