Astrotech wins $77.5 million U.S. Space Force award for satellite processing at Vandenberg, regional rep says

Morris said the facilities will allow satellite and launch providers to expand operations on the Central Coast, reduce the need to do final processing in Los Angeles, and create local jobs and investment. He credited long‑running collaboration among Vandenberg Space Force Base, REACH, the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce and local governments for helping secure the award.
Morris described the award as a regional win that will ‘‘unlock more jobs, more innovation, and more long‑term economic opportunities for our region.’’ The comment came during public comment and was presented as a report of a private‑sector/regionally coordinated development win; no council action was required or taken at the meeting.
