Council recommended to place Laughlin Lake maintenance dredge project on consent after residents expressed support

The city recommended awarding the Laughlin Lake maintenance dredge project during the May 13 work session and asked council to move the item to consent.
Matt Dahlhausen, president of the Laughlin Lake Association homeowners, told the council the lake has been filling in for about 25 years and cited a study concluding much of the sediment comes from city streets and runoff. Dahlhausen said the lake contains “approximately about 6 feet of muck” and that the homeowners association had worked with the city on a plan to dewater and prepare the site for dredging.
Staysha Ladoux, a resident at 6547 Lakeshore Drive, urged council to approve the dredge project and thanked the city for its cooperation. Staff said the project had a four-week mobilization timeline and that the dredging would occur this summer per earlier commitments to residents.
The city recommended the award and indicated the item was suitable for consent. Council signaled agreement to move the project to consent during the meeting review; no roll-call award vote was recorded during the work session.
Staff and residents said funding was in place. The project schedule and procurement details will be addressed in the formal consent agenda during the council meeting portion of the May 13 session.
