The medical examiner said he recently received a toxicology report from a January case showing methamphetamine overdose as the cause of death. He said the office has seen less fentanyl in blood draws recently but still detects it in some cases; he credited local awareness efforts for some of the change in findings.
The examiner also noted an on-road fatal accident near Winter that remains under investigation and reiterated that the average age of death in current cases is about 75 years.
