The Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee voted to forward a resolution to the Board of Supervisors recommending approval of a type 20 off‑sale beer and wine license for Casa Guadalupe Supermarket 2 at 3400 Cesar Chavez Street.
Officer Natalie Viatoro Crane of the San Francisco Police Department’s ABC liaison unit presented the PCN report and said the site is located in Plot 461 and “is considered a high crime area” and in “Census Tract 209, which is considered a high concentration area.” The Alcoholic Beverage Control liaison unit recommended approval with the same monitoring condition requested in the prior item: the petitioner shall actively monitor the area under their control to prevent loitering adjacent to the licensed premises as depicted on ABC‑253.
Steven Hill, son of owner‑operator Pedro Hill, told the committee Casa Guadalupe is converting a former Walgreens that has been empty for nearly five years into a 12,000‑square‑foot market with 20 parking spaces intended as a “one‑stop shop” for the neighborhood. Chair Matt Dorsey moved that the clerk prepare a resolution finding the license would serve the public convenience or necessity and forward it to the full board with a positive recommendation. By roll call the motion passed with three ayes and Vice Chair Mahmood excused.
No letters of protest were reported on the PCN and the Mission Station indicated no opposition. The clerk will prepare the committee’s resolution for the Board of Supervisors’ agenda.
