Deputy City Manager Loveland presented the draft calendar for the 2026 budget process at the May 5 study session and asked council to note key meeting dates for department and capital presentations, public hearing and budget adoption.
Loveland identified August 4 and August 18 as tentative dates for department and capital program presentations, Sept. 8 for the initial proposed budget, a public hearing set for Sept. 22, and a target adoption date of Oct. 13, with Oct. 27 available as a backup if council deliberations require additional time. He noted the city’s practice is typically to adopt the budget prior to November election deadlines, although adoption can legally occur through Dec. 31.
Council members had no substantive questions and indicated they had the dates on their calendars. No formal action or vote was taken at the study session; staff will proceed with the schedule unless council requests changes.
