The Rush Valley Planning and Zoning Commission administered the oath of office to newly appointed commissioner Kyle Russell and elected David Anderson as the commission chair for the remainder of the 2025 calendar year during its May 7 meeting.
Town staff administered the oath to Kyle Russell, who signed the oath form dated May 7 and was recorded as having a four-year term of office. There was no separate roll-call vote recorded for the appointment; the commission completed the swearing-in at the meeting.
At the following agenda item the commission held an election to fill the chair position after the outgoing chair said he would step down because of other responsibilities. Commissioner Scotty Hawkins nominated David Anderson; the nomination was seconded and carried by voice vote. The commission recorded the vote as unanimous.
Commissioners and staff described the position as a committee role that benefits from staff support and noted that procedural continuity is maintained by the planning staff and the Town Council. The newly elected chair will serve the remainder of the 2025 calendar year.
