The Unionville-Chadds Ford School District announced on May 12 that the board has selected Dr. Tim Hoffman as the district's next superintendent and published key terms of a proposed five-year contract ahead of a formal board vote scheduled for May 19.
Board and district officials described Hoffman as an experienced internal candidate. In a report during the work session, Dr. Sandoval, the district superintendent, said Hoffman "brings valuable perspective that balances professional expertise with personal investment in our community's future." Dr. Simonson and other board members previewed contract terms on the record.
Under the contract terms summarized at the meeting, Dr. Hoffman would receive an annual salary of $258,000 and a five-year term. The agreement includes a contribution to a 403(b) retirement account and an allowance for a 10-day vacation buyback. Board members said other elements of the new contract will mirror Hoffman's current assistant superintendent contract; the district said the full contract would be posted for review later in the week.
Board members said formal comment on the hire would be reserved for the regular meeting next week, when the board is scheduled to vote to finalize the contract and Hoffmanโs appointment. No final vote occurred during the May 12 work session.
The board also said it had met in a series of executive sessions related to the superintendent search and other employment matters in the weeks leading up to the selection.
