Wenatchee School Board approves consent agenda, elects legislative representative, and relocates Transitions program

The Wenatchee School District Board of Directors took three formal actions at its May 13 regular meeting: it approved the consent agenda, elected a legislative representative, and approved moving the district’s Transitions program to the former Columbia Elementary site.
The board approved the consent agenda, which the superintendent said included minutes, vouchers and payroll, personnel changes, surplus and contracts and the March financial report. The board stated the personnel report includes “big changes to leadership at the district” at the building and cabinet levels. The consent agenda was moved and seconded and a board member announced “All in favor” with the chair calling the motion carried.
The board then nominated and elected Maria Neguez to serve as the WASDA legislative representative through the board’s first regular meeting in 2026. Per board policy 1225, that representative serves as the board’s contact for legislative activities and as the liaison to the WASDA General Assembly. The board confirmed Neguez by roll call vote.
Finally, the board approved a motion to relocate the Wenatchee Valley Community Transitions Program into the west wing of the former Columbia Elementary building, where Valley Academy of Learning will occupy the remaining space. Board members said the move gives the transitions program a more permanent space, keeps district programs on district property and preserves other district-owned properties for future use. The motion to move the program was approved by voice vote.
The board recessed into an executive session to evaluate the qualifications of an applicant for public employment and to review a staff member’s performance under district policy 1410 and RCW 42.31.110; the board stated it was not expected to take final action following the executive session.
