The Lakeville Board of Health on May 7 approved a series of routine permits and a betterment loan, and discussed seasonal mosquito control, with little public debate.
The board voted to issue a new food establishment license and a milk-and-cream license to Saint Joseph and Saint Rita Corp doing business as Fat Cousins following a staff report that paperwork was complete and an inspection would follow. Board members said the restaurant’s name and most employees will remain the same under the ownership change.
The board approved a new mobile food permit for Adobo Public Republic LLC, pending a pre-opening inspection. The applicant plans to operate a food truck, with initial dates at Elliott Farms beginning May 15; the permit is year-round and allows operation at other private properties with property-owner permission.
The board approved a betterment loan for 8 Laurel Street in the amount of $39,165.20 so the homeowner can proceed with septic work. A board member noted these betterments do not cost the town directly and encouraged residents with failed systems to consult the Board of Health about assistance options.
The board continued review and approval of meeting minutes for Feb. 5, 2025, to a future meeting because a member absent from the May 7 meeting (Derek Maxim) might have questions. The board also discussed the start of mosquito season, urging residents to remove standing water and noting the board can apply larvicide drops that target mosquito larvae without harming other wildlife.
Motions to approve the licenses, permit, loan and to continue the minutes were made and approved by voice vote. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn that passed by voice vote.
