Lakeway council unanimously adopts canvass, declares results of May 3 special election

The Lakeway City Council unanimously adopted a resolution May 13 to formally canvass and declare the results of the city’s May 3, 2025, special election.
City Secretary reported that Travis County provided the official canvass used by the city and explained that "the canvass is the official tally of votes for any given election," adding that official totals account for early votes, Election Day ballots, mail-in and provisional ballots and overseas and military ballots. The city secretary presented vote totals for seven propositions placed on the May 3 ballot.
The official tally reported by staff showed the following results: Proposition A — 2,769 for, 600 against (passed); Proposition B — 2,079 for, 1,275 against (passed); Proposition C — 2,152 for, 1,126 against (passed); Proposition D — 1,659 for, 1,614 against (passed); Proposition E — 2,048 for, 1,150 against (passed); Proposition F — 1,391 for, 1,873 against (failed); and Proposition G — 1,686 for, 1,527 against (passed).
Because Propositions B, C, D, E and G were charter amendments, the city secretary said those approved amendments "will be incorporated into the Lakeway City Charter." Staff indicated there is no anticipated fiscal impact from these charter amendments.
Following the staff report, Council member Bridal moved to accept the canvass and the returns as reported by the city secretary; the motion was seconded (the transcript did not specify which council member seconded). Mayor Kilgore, Council member O’Brien and Council member Sherman voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously 3-0. The council adopted Resolution No. 2025051301 formally declaring the special election results.
No members of the public addressed the council during the meeting’s citizen participation period. With the canvass adopted, the council adjourned at 1:06 p.m.
