Council OKs three-year maintenance agreement for reservoir mixing system

The Palos Park Village Council voted Oct. 13 to approve a three-year inspection and maintenance agreement with IXOM for the solar-powered mixing system in the village's underground water reservoir.
Village staff said the mixing system prevents problems associated with temperature-stratified layers of stored water. IXOM will perform annual inspections including mechanical, structural and electronic maintenance, cover repairs and upgrades during the three-year term, and provide on-site emergency response. The proposed cost is $6,700 per year; the contract was described as budgeted in the water fund and follows a prior three-year renewal in 2022 at $6,396.
Commissioner Wade moved to approve the proposal; the motion passed on a roll-call vote with recorded yes responses from Commissioner Wade, Commissioner Reed and Mayor Milovich Walters.
