Palos Park approves pre-wetting system retrofits for two public-works trucks

The Palos Park Village Council on Oct. 13 approved two purchases to add pre-wetting systems to public-works trucks to reduce winter ice formation.
Public Works presented proposals from Henderson Products to retrofit a pre-wetting system — a spray system that applies calcium chloride prior to and during snow events — on truck No. 69 (a 2023 Ford F-550) at a cost of $5,641 and on truck No. 1 (a 2007 International 7400) at a cost of $7,680. The staff report said the village currently has three trucks equipped with this capability and budgeted the purchases from the half-percent sales tax fund.
Commissioner Wade moved to approve the two separate proposals; both motions were seconded and passed on roll-call votes with recorded yes responses from Commissioner Wade, Commissioner Reed and Mayor Milovich Walters.
