Corpus Christi fire chief reappointed to Texas Commission on Fire Protection

City Manager Peter Zanoni told the council that Gov. Greg Abbott originally appointed Chief Wade in September to complete an existing term and in April made a subsequent appointment to a full six‑year term running through 2031. Zanoni said the commission, established in 1991, sets and enforces statewide standards for fire protection personnel, training and certification and provides resources to Texas fire departments.
Chief Wade said he was honored to represent the city on the commission and that several members of the Corpus Christi Fire Department already serve on subcommittees, which he said helps provide local expertise for statewide standards and training. He thanked the mayor, the city manager and the Texas Fire Chiefs Association, which nominates candidates for commission appointment.
Council members offered congratulations. No formal action was required; the mayor and manager noted the appointment as a point of city recognition.
