River City construction advances at jail and sheriff sections; project near final payout

Site work remains active around the exterior. Asphalt and curbing work continues; staff explained there were sequence and formwork considerations related to an area near the building where concrete and mill-and-overlay asphalt work intersect. The contractor has been placing concrete in small increments and expects asphalt milling to match those elevations before final overlay.
Sheriff’s office systems — including central control, doors, cameras and intercoms — are in the testing phase. Jail furniture deliveries (bunk beds, tables, interrogation furniture) are expected mid-next week and will be staged in secure storage areas until rooms are freed up for installation. Staff said two cell pods have been sealed and flooring work is proceeding northward as rooms are cleared and ceilings and furniture are installed.
Project staff estimated the final payout could arrive the following week and mentioned the current payout estimate around 1.8 (context: percent or million not specified in the transcript). Several change orders and finish items — column cover plates, caulking and storefront glazing — remain on the punch list. Staff said they would deliver an updated project status report to the commission next week.
Commissioners asked several questions about exterior grading and gutter connections to the base and were briefed on compaction, forms and how the proposed slurry concrete between the curb and asphalt will be milled to match the asphalt surface.
