The Village of Clemmons Town Council adopted Resolution 2025-R-3 declaring May 2025 Historic Preservation Month and heard updates from the Forsyth County Historic Resources Commission representative and the village ppointee.
Miss McCullough and Scott Binkley, the village ppointee to the Forsyth County Historic Resource Commission, briefed the council on the county rchitectural survey update. McCullough reported the county has signed a contract with a publisher to produce the updated countywide architectural survey and that the village—ontribution to the project is complete. Binkley said the commission is promoting walking and mobile tours of local landmarks and noted a historic marker unveiling at Clemmons Mill is scheduled for Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 2 p.m.
The discussion included appreciation for promotion and outreach to ensure the survey and local landmark events reach residents through social media and county communications. The resolution and the commission—riefing were presented during the council meeting and adopted without recorded opposition.
The council presented a certificate and a print related to the Hattie Butner Stagecoach as part of local recognition; a fifth-grade student rtwork winner was also recognized at the meeting in a separate announcement.
Why this matters: The updated county architectural survey will produce a consolidated reference on historic resources that can support preservation planning and marker programs across Forsyth County. The Clemmons Mill marker unveiling is a specific, near-term preservation event for the village.
