The Chino Hills City Council unanimously appointed Mei Li (who introduced herself as May Lee) to serve as the student member of the Parks & Recreation Commission. The nomination was made by the mayor and the council approved the appointment 5-0.
Mayor Bennett described the nominee's background: she was born in South Korea in February 2008, lived in Queensland, Australia for five years, attended public schools in Chino Hills, is a junior at Chino Hills High School, has served as Health Science Academy president, participates on the varsity swim team and is on a pre-med track. Mei (May) Lee told the council she was honored and excited to serve.
The council directed staff to send her a letter explaining next steps and to arrange a formal swearing-in. Staff said the appointment term expires April 30, 2026.
