Resident asks supervisors to pursue grants for Old Long Valley Bridge; raises water district billing concerns

Sterling Wellman, a Lake County resident, asked the Lake County Board of Supervisors during public input to place the Old Long Valley Bridge on an agenda so the county can pursue grants and evaluate access and safety concerns following repeated fire seasons.

"I am requesting that we could put this on to where we can work on getting grants for the Old Long Valley Bridge, due to the fire seasons upon us again and again, 1 way in, 1 way out," Wellman said. He said there is also damage to a spillway at Indian Valley Reservoir, describing the combination as "2 hazards now going on for Spring Valley and only 1 way out."

Wellman also raised concerns about how a local special district is handling water service and standby charges after a 2018 measure did not pass. He said a staff member named Robin "went back into paperwork and now [is] stating that standbys are paying regular price plus $6," and that residents were told standbys "can turn their water on at any moment," but some have been prevented from doing so. "We have people try to turn on their standbys, and now she's telling them that they cannot," he said. Wellman said he had sent related documents to "Eddie" and asked the board to consider a public hearing so the community can resolve questions about billing and service.
