Cass County Commission roundup: minutes, plats, flood-policy briefing, jail sensor purchase and personnel approvals

The Cass County Commission handled several routine and substantive items at its April 24 meeting, including ceremonial recognition, land-use approvals, a procurement for inmate health monitoring and a personnel authorization.

Resolution of appreciation: Commissioners presented a resolution of appreciation and a plaque to retiring Emergency Management Director Jim Prochniak. County officials and several public safety partners spoke in tribute to Prochniak's service; the commission approved the resolution by roll call during the consent sequence.

Final plat approval: The commission approved the final plat for Cheyenne Valley Farm Second subdivision. Planning staff said the application involved breaking a 35-acre lot to separate a cold-storage building from surrounding agricultural land and that the planning commission had recommended approval with deed restrictions on tillable acreage. The motion to approve passed on a roll call vote.
