Judy Morrow, a resident who provided her address as Northeast Fifth Avenue, spoke during the public requests portion of the April 21 Boca Raton CRA meeting and urged the city to do more publicity for the Boca Raton Tennis Center and related recreation offerings.
"But Boca Raton Tennis Center, we need more advertising," Morrow said. She asked whether the city had received drawings from Terra Frisbie and when those drawings would be posted to the city website, and she asked whether more than four courts would be included if all 10 tennis courts were removed in redevelopment drawings.
Morrow noted cost increases for private tennis lessons and suggested the city could place a larger sign at the facility or offer promotions such as a free introductory lesson for children. "It would be very nice if the city of Boca at the Boca Raton Tennis Center before you knock it down and hopefully replace it with as many tennis courts as we can with more people that you do some more put up a big sign in front of the building and maybe say, you know, children 10, your first lesson is free," she said.
Mr. Brown (staff) told the board the CRA is still awaiting updated interim plans from Terra Frisbie and that staff expects the interim plan in the coming weeks and will know more about specifics for downtown tennis at that time. Morrow's remarks were recorded as part of public comment; the board did not take formal action in response during the meeting.
