Evansville board approves contract for nuisance animal removal at two city cemeteries

The Evansville City Board of Public Works on May 4 approved a $6,906.63 contract with Nuisance Wildlife Control LLC for nuisance-animal removal at Oak Hill Cemetery and Locust Hill Cemetery.
City staff described the agreement as a replacement for a long-standing vendor that raised its rates. "We previously had a vendor we used for years and he increased his rates, quite a bit. So we ventured out and looked for some other vendors and this one's actually cheaper than what we've been paying in the past," said Donna Morris, city staff, recommending approval. Morris added, "It's more cost effective."
The board moved and seconded the contract approval; the board president called the vote and the motion was approved by voice. The contract is limited to nuisance-animal removal at the two named cemeteries; staff did not provide a further breakdown of services, schedule, or the vendor's contract term during the discussion.
The matter was presented during the board's New Business agenda and concluded with an approving voice vote before the meeting moved on to a separate historic-district lighting contract.
