Beech Grove board adopts GO bond appropriation, clears final bond resolution for facility upgrades

The Beech Grove City Schools Board on May 13 adopted an additional appropriation and a final bond resolution to allocate general obligation (GO) bond proceeds for district facility projects.
Dr. Laura Hammock, superintendent of Beech Grove City Schools, summarized the planned improvements for trustees before the hearing: "These planned improvements ... do include roofing repairs and replacements, paving projects to maintain safe and accessible parking areas and roadways across our campuses, HVAC system upgrades to improve air quality, energy efficiency, and overall comfort in learning spaces, School bus purchases ... and other critical capital improvements," she said.
The board opened the legally required additional appropriation hearing for GO bond proceeds, received no public comments and closed the hearing before returning to regular business. The additional appropriation resolution approves the district's use of the bond proceeds for the listed projects; the final bond resolution sets project cost parameters and the bond financial terms such as the maximum interest rate and maturity dates.
Trustees moved and seconded both resolutions and approved them by voice vote.
During the meeting Garment and other staff flagged related facility needs previously discussed, including replacement of a middle-school boiler and additional costs tied to proprietary building-control systems. The board's action follows several meetings of project planning; staff told trustees these items have been discussed over the last three board meetings.
