A Washoe County resident urged the Board of Adjustment on May 1 to address wildfire evacuation risks associated with large summer events after the board approved several event permits earlier in the meeting.
Wayne Ford, speaking from the public gallery, said the combination of increased short-term rentals, planned parking lots and large events could hamper evacuation routes in an emergency. "When you have Crystal Bay and a large event going on and we have a fire coming in, let's say from the East Shore moving south towards Incline, one of the evacuation routes is going to be right through that venue.
