Lisa Kelly, representing Blue Springs BMX, addressed the board during the patron‑comment period and proposed several partnership ideas for Grain Valley students, including field trips, a day camp and an after‑school BMX club.
Kelly said Blue Springs BMX is a 501(c)(3) that serves more than 600 riders and that 52 riders live in the Grain Valley School District. She offered to supply bikes and helmets for school field trips and suggested a district‑sponsored after‑school BMX club that would require a district sponsor. “We want to offer field trips for Valley kids, a day camp for all ages. We will provide bikes, helmets,” Kelly said.
Board members thanked the presenter and said district staff would review the materials and follow up. Administration agreed to pass the information to the appropriate staff and to consider how the district might connect with local youth sports and extracurricular opportunities.
