Council clerk reports multiple continuances and committee recommendations; council votes to hold closed session on appointee performance

Item 21 (paper 20 24 187) was scheduled to be amended and continued later and then to the May 12 meeting; a different Item 21 listed as 20 24 329 was scheduled to be continued to June 9. The clerk said Planning Commission recommended denial of items 22 (ordinance referenced as 20 20 five-fifty 8) and 23 (ordinance 20 25 0 55) and that after an opportunity for public hearing the recommendation was that the council reject those ordinances. Item 24 (ordinance 20 25 0 68) was forwarded from committee with no recommendation and remained on the regular agenda.

The clerk also noted that items 25 through 31 were budget-related papers; items 25 and 26 would be amended later in the evening and then continued to the May 12 council meeting, while items 27 through 31 would be continued to May 12.

After the docket summary, a motion was made to move into a closed meeting under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act. A council member moved that the City Council go into a closed meeting "pursuant to subdivision a 1 of section 2.2-3711 of [the Virginia Freedom of Information Act] to discuss the performance of a council appointee," and Miss Jones seconded the motion. The council then conducted a roll-call vote.
