Alva approves $1.94 million bid for FAP waterline project to serve new senior center

The Alva Utility Authority approved the lowest best bid of $1,937,058.50 from Mach Energy Services LLC for the FAP waterline project, which will replace and add water mains on multiple streets and extend an 8-inch line to serve a planned senior center.
City staff explained the project covers several street segments including Fair Street, Apache Drive, Comanche Circle, Fourth Street, Maple Street and Hunt Street, with work to tie an 8-inch line into a main on Choctaw from Fourth to Second Street. The project is intended to provide adequate water pressure and fire suppression capacity for the new senior center and to add fire hydrants to underserved parts of town.
Public works staff said the recommendation came from Myers Engineering and that sufficient project funds remain to include the senior center connection. The authority recorded a roll-call vote in favor of the bid. Several trustees commented on contractor experience; staff characterized Mach Energy as a dependable contractor on recent ODOT projects.
The motion to approve the bid was moved and seconded during the utility authority meeting and carried by roll-call vote. The authority instructed staff to proceed with contract administration and traffic-control planning for busy streets during construction.
