The Alva City Council voted to receive the official returns of the general election held April 1, 2025, and then held a swearing-in ceremony for the successful candidates.
The motion to receive the official election returns — covering Kevin Trent Goss for city treasurer and council seats in wards 1 through 4 — was moved by James Adair and seconded by Sherry Swallow. The roll-call vote recorded “yes” votes from members present, including Adair, Swallow, Parsons and Hoffman; the clerk then administered the oath to the winners.
Council members and staff said brief remarks of welcome and thanks. The oath was administered by a city staff member identified in the meeting as Drew; the new officials took seats at the council table after the ceremony. Outgoing service from a member identified as Troy was acknowledged during the ceremony.
The action formally records receipt of the official returns for Kevin Trent Goss (city treasurer); James Hoffman (Ward 1, Seat 1); Samuel Krekenberg (Ward 2, Seat 1); Kenneth Farris (Ward 3, Seat 1); and Greg Bowman (Ward 4, Seat 1). No further discussion was recorded before the vote. The council then moved on to other agenda business.
