Griggs County Weed Board keeps county noxious‑weed list unchanged; secretary role and certification noted

The Griggs County Weed Board met after the county commission adjourned and voted to keep the county’s noxious‑weed list unchanged.
County staff said the statewide and county noxious‑weed lists were last updated in 2023 and that the county’s list currently includes the locally present species noted by state guidance. The board discussed yellow toadflax and other noxious species; a county staff member said a state contact recommended leaving the county list unchanged.
Sam (county staff) explained that the board must meet annually and must elect a chair and vice chair; the board must also appoint a secretary and a treasurer (the secretary and treasurer do not have to be board members, per North Dakota Century Code). Sam said she has been performing secretary/treasurer bookkeeping duties and applied for the weed officer position to formalize the role.
Board members noted the weed control officer must meet pesticide certification requirements in state law. The board asked staff to update the official county list to reflect no change and to record the annual meeting minutes. The motion to keep the county list the same carried by voice vote.
The weed board adjourned at about 11:05 a.m.
