Council approves Logan—s boundary adjustment to add three parcels into Nibley; zoning set to commercial, second reading waived

After a public hearing, the council approved Ordinance 25-16 to adjust the municipal boundary and annex three parcels along Highway 8991 into Nibley City. The applicants said the parcels would be used to expand an existing landscaping business and that utilities and services are more accessible from Nibley than from neighboring Logan.
BJ Smith, an applicant representative, said the business currently rents property nearby and seeks to relocate operations to the parcels. Staff said the parcels are designated commercial on the city—s future land-use map and that the commercial zoning would support economic development and local employment goals. Planning commission had recommended approval of the boundary adjustment and the commercial zoning.
The council opened a public hearing, received the applicant—s comments and then closed the hearing. A motion to approve the boundary adjustment and concurrently zone the parcels commercial carried on a roll-call vote; the council also voted to waive second reading so the ordinance took effect without delay.
