Council adds objective to explore partnerships with Bowie’s four private pools

He suggested the work be assigned to either the Community Services Division or the Community Outreach and Events Division so staff could schedule meetings with the pools and report back to the council.
Council members asked for clarity about the task and whether the council or a staff division should own the objective. City staff clarified the request would direct staff to schedule meetings to identify the pools’ needs and return with findings so the council could consider support options. Councilman Brady noted one pool (Pointe Ridge) already has a municipal grant.
Council accepted the clarified objective and discussed which division should manage outreach. The mayor and other council members voiced support for assigning it to Community Outreach and Events.
No budget appropriation or grant change was made at the meeting; the action was a direction to staff to schedule and report on meetings with the pool operators and bring options back to council for possible future action.
