District schedules May 20 parent safety presentation after law-enforcement briefing on online threats to students

Because the presentation contains sensitive material, the board member and administrators recommended presenting first to parents so they can be “armed” with information before talking with children.
The speaker said the district is asking families to attend the May 20 event and described the session as focused on how parents can recognize warning signs and steps they can take at home. The board member said the district would promote the event widely and invited board members to attend. No formal vote or board action was recorded; the item was presented as new business and staff will continue outreach to parents and counselors ahead of the May 20 session.
