The continuance came during a procedural opening at a hearing on April 30, after attorneys identified themselves for the record and one counsel requested time so parties could review recently submitted exhibits. "So if there's no strenuous objection, I'm gonna continue this case until 09:30, May seventh at 09:30," McMill said. She added that parties who cannot attend in person will be able to participate by Zoom.
The request for additional time was raised after Joe Rosenfeld identified himself as counsel for Howard and Tanya Aldag and other counsel indicated they had only recently joined or filed additional arguments. Stan Brown identified himself for the record as representing People Zoning Council. John Suhar identified himself as representing Wingate Homeowners Association, Incorporated. Chris Hatcher, counsel for the applicant, said the applicant was "very comfortable proceeding" but estimated the applicant planned to call one or two witnesses and did not expect a full-day hearing: "we should be out of here."
McMill instructed that any supplemental exhibits be emailed to the Office of the Zoning Hearing Examiner (ZHE) "no later than 04:00 this Friday, May" (the transcript did not specify a numerical date). She also noted scheduling constraints and said the parties could request to go earlier in the May 7 docket if needed.
Case numbering was clarified at the start of the session: the matter was listed as SE22002 and will be renumbered as SEVSE22002 to reflect that it is a variance. No formal vote was recorded on the continuance; McMill announced the new hearing time from the bench and parties indicated they could appear either in person or virtually.
The hearing record will remain open for the supplemental filings described above. The examiner said she expected the matter to return on May 7 for final hearing and directed parties to be prepared to proceed then.
