Salinas Airport master plan nearly complete after renewed FAA review

The Salinas Airport Manager reported that the airport's master plan, submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration in October 2024, is largely complete and now moving through FAA review after a reviewer reassignment.
"We did submit that in October 2024...we were assigned to a new FAA reviewer at the ADO," Airport Manager Matt said. He told the commission comments began arriving three days after the new assignment and described the initial comments as "benign" with only a few follow-up questions.
Matt said he expects the master plan to be "memorialized, signed, sealed, and delivered by June of 2025," characterizing the remaining work as largely outside local control because it depends on FAA processing. He described the master plan as the airport's "living document" that lays out assets and aspirational projects on three-, five- and ten-year horizons.
Commission members did not take formal action on the master plan at the meeting; staff said they would continue to work with the FAA reviewer and return to the commission if substantive changes arise.
