Eaton County Central Dispatch honors telecommunicators and reports staffing levels

Francis De Vetter, deputy director of Eaton County Central Dispatch, told the Public Safety Committee on May 1 that the dispatch center celebrated Telecommunicator Week with awards for employees and outlined current staffing levels.
De Vetter described awards presented in April, including the Stacy Lynn Sprouse award (named for a dispatcher who died in 2005) and other recognitions: a Distinguished Character award, an Above and Beyond award, customer service and team awards. He identified award recipients by name, including Teresa Hart (Stacy Lynn Sprouse award), Nicholas Smith (Distinguished Character and CPR save), Brian Jones (Above and Beyond), Katie Hennessy (Customer Service and life-saving telephone tourniquet use), Mike Borkowski (20 years of service), Brianna Shaw and Kaylee Cavender (5 years each), and others.
De Vetter told the committee the dispatch center had 14 fully trained dispatchers, one dispatcher in training with prior experience, one vacant position, and six fully trained supervisors. He highlighted that the team had recorded three CPR saves (calls where telecommunicators coached callers through life-saving measures) and three "stork" awards for births handled on the phone.
