She said assembly members the commission has met with understand the commission’s information needs, and that, given limited interim work sessions, commissioners are discussing whether to pursue a formal hearing or a more informal work group to gather information.
The commission’s chair said she has had conversations about expanding grant capacity and described a possible two-stage approach to develop a funding plan. She said that when the commission considers its final budget, she may request a small allocation to create a funding plan so staff can pursue additional sources without proceeding ad hoc.
No formal direction or funding allocation was approved at the meeting; the discussion was informational and the chair signaled that any formal request for budgeted planning funds would appear in a future budget item.
