Vandalia proclaims April 22 ‘Jordan Gross Day’ after national indoor 60-meter title

Mayor Richard Herbst presented a proclamation at the April 21 Vandalia City Council meeting honoring Jordan Gross for winning the national championship in the 60-meter dash at the Adidas Indoor Nationals.
Reading the proclamation, Herbst said, in part, "Whereas Jordan Gross has achieved a remarkable accomplishment by winning national championship in the 60 meter dash at the prestigious Adidas indoor nationals. An achievement that reflects not only the athletic talent but his unwavering commitment to excellence in a sport of track and field." He concluded, "I, therefore, Richard Herbst, by the Mayor as the mayor of the city of Vandalia, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, 04/22/2025 as Jordan Gross Day in the city of Vandalia."
Council and staff played a video of Gross’s winning race and offered congratulations. Gross told council he hopes "to win a state championship in a hundred in the 200 meter dash" in the upcoming season and that he hopes his relay teams can compete.
The proclamation was presented during the meeting’s communications, petitions and awards portion; council did not take a separate vote on the proclamation.
