Council hears board vacancies, CAFR award and Census reminder

Lake Havasu City staff notified the council Oct. 8 of multiple vacancies on city boards and commissions, and Acting City Manager Mr. Fosley reported several recent community events and a certificate of achievement for the city's comprehensive annual financial report.

Miss Williams said vacancies include one regular pilot member on the Airport Advisory Board and three regular and three alternate openings on the Board of Adjustment. She said applications are being accepted for the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System; applications are available at City Hall and on the city website.

Mr. Fosley, sitting in for City Manager Knudson, reviewed community activity from late September and early October: staff and officials joined ribbon cuttings for local businesses including Savon Bath Treats and a Dollar General; city leaders met with Senator Sunny Barelli and Gold Star Mothers for a proclamation honoring Gold Star families; the city presented a key to the city to Reverend Richard and Grace Tatham for 50 years of service to Stonebridge Christian Fellowship Church; and Mayor Sheehy, Vice Mayor Lane and council members participated in other community recognition events.

Fosley told the council the city received the Government Finance Officers Association certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting for its CAFR. He credited Jill Olsen, Administrative Services Director, Trina Ware and their team for preparing the report. Fosley also reminded residents that Census Day is April 1, 2020, noting there were about 175 days remaining until the census date at the time of the meeting.

Earlier in the meeting the council approved the consent agenda 5-0; no items were removed for separate discussion and no public comments were made during the call to the public.
