The Hardee County School Board on May 5, 2025, approved routine minutes, adopted a proposed 2026-27 district calendar, authorized staff to advertise a request for proposals for a construction manager to oversee the new Hardee Senior High School project and approved the consent agenda; one board member disclosed a conflict and abstained.
The board convened at 5:00 p.m. and first approved minutes from the April 21 meeting on a motion by Dr. Sharp, seconded by Miss Cornell. The item passed with no recorded opposition.
The board then considered item 9.01, the proposed 2026-27 district calendar. Miss Cornell moved to approve the calendar; Mr. Smith seconded. Board members expressed support for the calendar as a tool to help families plan vacations and school start dates; the motion passed.
On action item 10.01 the board voted to advertise a request for proposals (RFP) for a construction manager to build the new Hardee Senior High School. Miss Cornell moved the action; Dr. Sharp seconded. Board members noted that the architect had already been approved and that advertising an RFP is the next step in the project. The motion carried.
The consent agenda was moved by Miss Cornell and seconded by Mr. Smith and was approved. Miss McCray said her two sons are listed on the personnel portion of the consent agenda as summer lifeguards and a summer lifeguard supervisor, and she announced she would abstain and complete the required ethics paperwork; that abstention was recorded before the vote. No public opposition to the consent agenda was recorded.

What this means Approving the 2026-27 calendar gives families and staff advance notice of next year’s start and major dates. Advertising the construction-manager RFP begins the procurement step for the new Hardee Senior High School after the architect approval the board referenced; further procurement and contract decisions will follow later meetings.
No ordinances, statutes or formal legal citations were referenced during the votes reported here. The board scheduled its next regular meeting for May 22, 2025.
