Council tests new agenda platform and electronic voting in work session

City staff demonstrated a new agenda management platform (accessed via emailed links and temporary passwords) and a built‑in electronic voting feature during the work session.

Jerica and other staff walked councilmembers through logging into the platform, changing temporary passwords, locating a test agenda item titled “voting council” and casting a test vote. Staff explained that when digital voting is enabled, councilmembers will see the agenda item, motion text and voting options on a split screen and the presiding officer will read the results aloud; staff said the public will not see live tallies on the public stream.

Councilmembers asked practical questions about password rules, packet delivery and whether the council would continue to receive an emailed Friday packet; staff said the system will send automated notices when the packet is posted and that council members will still be emailed when items are posted. Staff offered support after the meeting to help anyone having password or login issues.
