The Hawkins County Board of Education recognized retiring employees from across the district during its May 1, 2025 meeting as part of Teacher Appreciation Day acknowledgements.
Personnel supervisor Teresa Drennan called retirees forward and read names and years of service. Among those recognized were Christie Woods (JRP assistant, 18 years); Peggy Crawford (guidance secretary); Claude Wayne Frost (bus driver, 29.5 years); Teresa Lockhart (special education teacher, Hawkins Elementary, 5 years); Donna Ball (special education aide, Hawkins Elementary, 29.63 years); Rodney Robertson (attendance supervisor, 26.7 years); Barbara Byington (employee attendance coordinator, central office, 38 years); Steve Seals (bus driver, 22 years); Norman Greer (NJROTC instructor, Volunteer High School, 16.5 years); Donna Clevenger (cook, Mooresburg Elementary, 15 years); Patsy McAnally (Mooresburg Elementary/bus driver, 35+ years); Amy Bloomberg (Churchill Middle School art teacher, 8 years); Becky Little (school nurse, 24 years); Darlene Parkey (assistant, 30 years); Maureen Morlock (assistant principal, Bulls Gap School, 26 years); Christy DeBusk (Hawkins Elementary teacher, 30 years); Lisa Mullins (pathways teacher, 25 years); Scott Trent (Cherokee High School teacher, 30 years); Robin Lalonde (Churchill Middle assistant, ~20 years); Anthony Ramey (maintenance/painter, 22 years); Pamela Robertson (Curtis Valley assistant, 18 years); Joni Sexton (custodian, Churchill Elementary, 11 years); Billie Jean Mitchell (finance/purchasing coordinator, central office, 52 years 5 months); Judy West (Mount Carmel Elementary assistant, 21 years); Becky Wilcox (special education interventionist, 39.5 years); Jackie Strickler (Volunteer High School special education teacher, 32 years); Peggy Trexler (Volunteer High School special education teacher, 24 years); and others on the list read into the record.
Board members and attendees applauded and thanked the retirees for their service. The district presented gifts and requested retirees present for photos and signatures.
