The PERRYTON ISD Board of Trustees on an unanimous vote approved Budget Amendment No. 3, a net increase of $9,000 to the district’s current fiscal year budget to account for junior high water-damage repairs and higher-than-expected appraisal district fees.
Board members approved the amendment during the board’s regular meeting after staff presented the changes. “Just a little bit. The junior high water damage, of course, we know it happened before budget was set but we didn't know exactly the effects of it until afterwards,” said Britney Mraz, a district staff member who presented the amendment. When a board member asked, “So after this entire list of numbers we see in front of us, this is really just an increase in the budget of $9,000?” Mraz replied, “Correct.”
The amendment as presented includes allocations to cover repairs to junior high facilities and a revision upward for appraisal district fees; board discussion included recognition of staff planning that kept the number of amendments low so far this year. A trustee complimented Mraz and staff for planning, saying the district had avoided the large number of amendments seen in past years.
Motion to adopt Budget Amendment No. 3 passed with a recorded result of 7–0.
Board members did not specify departmental line-item details beyond the stated categories during the public portion of the meeting. Staff said work on panels and other repairs related to the water damage was underway and that the amendment is meant to account for costs identified after the original budget was set.
The board proceeded to the next agenda items after the vote.
