The Churchill County Board of Commissioners approved an intrastate interlocal agreement between the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Welfare and Supportive Services, and the Churchill County District Attorney’s Office Child Support Division for the period July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2029.
District Attorney staff emphasized that the contract supports enforcement activity that brings federal and state reimbursement into the county. "If there's a full time support staff ... the county is reimbursed at 66% of that money," Deputy District Attorney Jeff Weed told commissioners, summarizing reimbursement rules and the program’s fiscal mechanics. Weed and DA Arthur Mallory said the program returns substantial dollars to the county; Weed gave figures for recent years: "Fiscal year 24, the child support division collected about $1,800,000 in child support. And this year so far, $1,300,000," he said. Mallory and Weed told the board the county received approximately $478,000 in reimbursements in fiscal 2024 and roughly $366,000 so far in fiscal 2025.
Commissioners moved, seconded, and approved the agreement by voice vote after expressions of appreciation for the child-support team's work.
