University of Michigan Dearborn Chancellor Grama and University of Michigan Flint Chancellor Alexander described practice-based learning, transfer partnerships and an announced U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration nursing grant at Flint. Eastern Michigan University President Smith brought a student, Jack Booth, who described graduating debt-free; Smith also noted a recently lost NIH outreach grant and said the campus would provide details on grants affected.
Representative Ra Rauth moved to approve the minutes of April 23; the clerk announced "no objections," and the chair ordered them approved.
The hearing closed after questions and responses; committee members requested follow-up figures on any frozen or clawed-back federal funding for each institution.
